Victoria
Cottage is an excellent location for an island break. Mull offers
a huge variety of activities and interests and the owners re
gularly
partake in golfing, walking, pony-trekking, fishing and have been
spellbound by whale-watching only a few miles from Tobermory Bay.
Other popular activities
can include bird-watching and theatre at Dervaig. Musical
enthusiasts will enjoy the traditional Scottish bands which
frequent the town's pubs mainly at weekends throughout the year.
The food on the island is excellent and the Tobermory restaurants
which serve local seafood, beef, lamb and dairy produce are
generally first class.
Mull and Tobermory hold many high profile events during the year,
such as the Music Festival in the spring and the Sailing Week and
Highland Games in summer. More recent events include the Mull &
Iona Food Festival which was first held
in late September 2002.
Whenever you decide to come it will be useful to check the main
island web site for the events which will coincide with your visit.
Winter breaks can be particularly attractive
for walkers with the mild climate and almost-deserted beaches
ideal for outdoor rambling. The c
ottage's
collection of empty whisky boxes is evidence of many cosy winter
nights in by the fire! Winter weeks can be up to 20% cheaper than
peak season periods.
The mobile
phone signals are strong in the area for those who need to stay in
touch. Internet users can get on-line for a small fee at the
excellent facility next to MacGochan's bar.
